I’m {jumping up and down!} excited to debut a colorful + fun new look here on ‘a Sequin Dress’ as I head into day 2 of a full week in New York City. My days are packed with blogger events {the Independent Fashion Bloggers and Lucky Fashion and Beauty Bloggers – FABB}, designer shows {BCBG, Rebecca Minkoff, Herve Leger, Erin Fetherston}, and Fashion’s Night Out {Thursday!} I kicked it off with a full-on fall look yesterday with leather on leather and my new maroon oxfords.

{leather shift: gap {old, similar here}, vest: vintage (similar), sunnies: dvf, necklace: unknown, oxfords: xica (found at hallelu)}

Last Friday I worked at the Ann Yee show, held at the Skyroom hotel. Lynzy of Sparkling Footsteps and I helped prep the glass-ceiling rooftop showroom (which had the most incredible view of Manhattan), set up sponsor tables with Hot Blondies and Brunette brownies (I may have snuck one in my purse to try-they were to die for), and assisted getting the models arranged into place prior to the start of the show. Ann Yee’s fall 2011 collection is an incredible mix of sheer chiffon paired with nubby wool textures, in lush deep tones. From my personal favorite piece, the thick gray wool high-waisted trousers, to the shorts in the same fabric, and a slightly sheer pants jumpsuit with fluttery sleeves-it was a very wearable collection.

The colors were a medley of fall tones- maroon, dark gray, deep plum, and navy. The Ann Yee show was set up as an open presentation, where invitees were free to come and go as they pleased to look at the collection, and get up close and personal with the pieces. Yee launched her women’s designer label in fall of 2009, after having designed for Alice + Olivia, Barney’s, and Elizabeth and James.

Ann Yee was so gracious and darling in person, and was the picture of calm the entire day. And how could you not love anyone who effortlessly wears hot pink lipstick?

I spent all of this past weekend with my new camera glued to my hand-it’s funny how when you have a camera you like, suddenly it’s fun to take pictures of everything (so unfortunately there is about 35 pictures of the same jar of pasta sauce while snap-happy me tested out every setting). I enjoyed a delicious Chinese dinner on Friday night, followed by 2 3 moscow mules, hanging out with my parents and their goofy little dog and ice skating on Saturday, and my Superbowl Sunday was more of a Sequin Sunday as I started the tedious packing process for NYC. How was your weekend?
