leather lady

I’m {jumping up and down!} excited to debut a colorful + fun new look here on ‘a Sequin Dress’ as I head into day 2 of a full week in New York City. My days are packed with blogger events {the Independent Fashion Bloggers and Lucky Fashion and Beauty Bloggers – FABB}, designer shows {BCBG, Rebecca Minkoff, Herve Leger, Erin Fetherston}, and Fashion’s Night Out {Thursday!} I kicked it off with a full-on fall look yesterday with leather on leather and my new maroon oxfords.

{leather shift: gap {old, similar here}, vest: vintage (similar), sunnies: dvf, necklace: unknown, oxfords: xica (found at hallelu)}

{new dvf sunnies as a little pre nyfw treat}

Today I’m taking off for a 10 day East Coast tour, heading first to Topsail Island, North Carolina for a wedding, then on to New York City Monday for Fashion Week. Packing for one trip is no easy task, so add on a whole separate trip + undependable weather + fashion week…and it’s a chaotic packing nightmare. (I’m scared to try to lift my suitcase.) Follow along to keep up with all my adventures via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

lela rose fall 2012

I attended the Lela Rose show in NYC exactly one month ago today, but (just like yesterday), thanks to the details, it stood out amongst many others. Not only was the feminine collection a standout – silk coat dresses, sparkling shoulder embellishments, and swingy collarless coats – but the designer had left a gift bag on the seat for every attendee. While gift bags aren’t entirely uncommon at runway shows like this, the rare find inside was – a small bag of homemade cookies, made by Lela Rose herself! All of this plus a seat across from my favorite – Brad Goreski – and running into Katie from Modern Eve and Christine from View from 5 ft 2 made for a most perfect final day in NYC

spotted legs

I’ve always had a weakness for anything with polka dots, so when I (forgive the pun) spotted these tights at a random little boutique in NYC, I knew they were coming home with me. They are definitely the most fun item I’ve added to my wardrobe lately, and I’m looking forward to wearing them as many times as I can before this already warm winter passes us by.

honor woman fall 2012

Strangely enough, I believe the first time I heard of the Honor brand, it was when I spotted this pretty red + pink dress combo on Pinterest. I’ve been a fan and follower ever since, so I was thrilled to be invited to the Honor show a few weeks ago. Bright bold colors, major pops of neon, long-sleeved sheer dresses, and my personal favorites – hot pink pants and a gorgeous purple fur sleeved coat – all made for an incredibly gorgeous, fun and completely lustworthy fall 2012 collection.

ny extras

I’ve been back from NY for over a week now but I packed so much in it’s taken awhile to get it all out. Besides a few more runway recaps, here are a final few favorite shots from my lovely trip to New York.

{stripes at richard chai, flatiron building, with anna of see jane, jessie of style and pepper braving the elements for the perfect shot, sweet little message, wine + bauble bar bling, cowboy-ish goth-esque nicholas k finale, rebecca taylor program, giving the pained feet a break}

Unexpected inspiration from a week in NYC: oversized houndstooth tights with slightly mismatched heels, gold lame pleated skirt, doubled up necklaces on Taylor, textured + neon nails, pleated leather skirt + Chanel around the waist, super chunky knitted sweaters and 3/4 leather sleeved shirts from J Brand, spiked platform booties, feathery/fur covered Alicia.
