While I can say with certainty I will never own a pair of pajama jeans, it wouldn’t be out of the question to call my most recent frock purchase a pajama dress. Super soft, cozy cotton, the pale gray color, and just the right looseness all make for what could comfortably be worn to bed. Instead, I decided to make it dinner-appropriate by just adding some boots and sparkly earrings. No frills, no statement necklaces, no belt…just simple and comfy. If only every dress could be this easy to wear.

pearls and jeans

While I’ll always be a dress and skirt > jeans kind of girl, I can appreciate how much a couple key accessories can fancy up my denim as much as my typical dressier wear. Add an oversized necklace, some sparkle around the wrist, and a pair of sandals with a little height and you make a simple jeans + tee combo become just a little bit nicer.

It’s a rare occasion these days that I put on a pair of classic blue jeans. Neons + color have my heart and are there to stay for some time. And much like sequins, I rarely meet a polka dot I don’t like. Combine these two loves and it’s a combo I’d be quite content to wear on a daily basis.

Always an advocate of multi-tasking clothes (and little blue dresses), I picked up this blue lace shift a couple months ago and have already made it work for a wedding (added gray heels + sparkly rope necklace + green jeweled clutch), work (added a jean jacket + bow flats), and drinks with friends (added tan wedges + long strap purse). It was also quite the appropriate dress to wear during this hot and sunny  4th of July week. Hope you had a fun 4th!

Great shoes, bags, and denim can all can be the solid foundation of an outfit, but it’s the jewelry that can really change a look. I’ve been wearing this J Crew bubble necklace weekly since I got it, and it will continue to be in heavy rotation for some time. I love the way the color pops against everything, the polka-dot-esque look to it, and maybe most of all, the way it jingles when I’m walking.

An outfit without accessories is like ice cream without the sprinkles (unimaginable, in my opinion). I tend to lean in the ‘more is more’ train of thought when it comes to piling on the jewelry. Any plain vanilla ensemble becomes something entirely new with some added sparkle, metal, and shine. Today I’m featured on the always sparkly Bauble Bar website – where they are always coming out with new ways to shine. (I still wear this Bauble Bar piece as often as possible!)

Well hello, Sequin Dress readers! My name is Marissa from the style blog Style Cusp. When I heard Kiley needed a few bloggers to cover her snappy little California rendezvous, I quickly contacted her. Kiley is an absolute doll, which I knew after about .009 seconds after meeting her before Lucky FABB during Fashion Week. We both attended the conference, and I was instantly drawn to her bubbly and sparkly spirit! Her blog is a daily, favorite read of mine, so I just knew I wanted to help her out!
This outfit is so indicative of my mood and lifestyle – simple, unexpected, and classic. I love a simple, easy pairing of a tee or top with a nice clean pant, skirt, or trouser. So when I woke up a half hour late for my new job training, I quickly grabbed two of those things: a simple H&M crew neck striped tee + a classic cropped khaki J. Crew trouser. To spice it up a little with an unexpected flair, I added in the leopard. I have been on a mixing prints kick lately, though I now consider leopard to be a neutral in my closet.

Fast forward to the end of the day, and I never would have thought I’d receive multiple compliments on such a simple (and affordable) outfit from my new coworkers!
Feel free to pop in over at Style Cusp & say hi! I love to chit-chat with readers :)
