It’s been a relaxing, indulgent, and beautiful past 5 days on Hilton Head Island. My cousin’s wedding was incredibly gorgeous, and it was one of the most personal and heartfelt weddings I’ve ever been to. I always think a wedding should represent the couple, and this was them in every way. I loved that they avoided many typical ‘traditions’ that I think many couples only do at weddings simply because they think they are supposed to. A few of my favorite personal touches included a head table full of their closest friends as there was no wedding party, a pie bar and s’mores pit instead of a cake, and dinner choices that included a mashed potato and mac and cheese bar. With a stunning South Carolina country club as the beautiful backdrop, the southern charm could be felt everywhere from the sweet tea and lemonade station, to the corn fritter and dainty shrimp with grit appetizers that were passed around during the post-ceremony cocktail hour. This was a marriage that was a long time coming…my cousin and his new wife have been together since early high school, in fact, their high school homecoming picture from 1999 was displayed at the entrance to the reception. Now how sweet is that?
