As a little girl, I had a brief stint as a ballerina, but after too many recitals gone wrong (picture tiny blonde nervously looking more at the girl next to her rather than smiling and looking at audience,) I moved on to pursue other hobbies. While prancing around on stage wasn’t my thing, I was always jealous of the older girls that got to wear the big fancy tutus. Perhaps due to the mega creepy but fascinating flick, Black Swan, I realized that I never lost the tutu admiration, as I’m once again drawn to a fashion from my past. I was lucky enough to score this grown up version of the tutu at Target last week for about $4, and have already thought of 100 things to pair it with.
For the truly clever and crafty, you have to see this darling tutu skirt that Sarah of Raving Fashionista actually made herself. If I had any sort of knack for using a sewing machine I would love to attempt this myself, in the meantime- I will admire hers.
One last lovely tutu comes in the form of a BCBG Max Azria version. This is the most ‘ballerina-esque’ due to its pretty pale pink, and I think that pairing it with black tights is perfection.
Would you dance around in real life with a tutu?
OMG. Although I know the post is not about the plum tights…I am obsessed….and the BCBG tutu is to die for. Love it!
I think that’s the same skirt I picked up from Target a few weeks ago for $8! I got in black and love it! I hope to do an outfit post with it soon.
The last pink colored skirt you posted is so dreamy!
Thanks for the blog love!! :)
I have that same tutu from Target in the light pink color and I grabbed it up when it was on sale too! Such a great find. I would have grabbed it in every color but I had to take a deep breath and remind myself I already have a greyish-purple tutu from H&M and a black mini tutu from Walmart (the bcbg/miley cyrus line actually haha). I’m obsessed.
xo!
I actully looked at one the other day.
I carried that thing around and held it up in front of me in front of the mirror a gazzilion times.
Never tried it on, because I just had too many layers on.
Bottom line… I walked out without buying it and it was on sale!
Stupid move???

I would gladly wear a tutu out dancing! Love the big red one on Sarah, it’s amazing! I have a cream tiered one and wore it for my birthday last year.

Target always has the best deals!! I got a pale pink tutu there last year for $8. Now that I think about it, I still haven’t worn it! Black Swan might inspire me – we are going to see it this weekend.
